Overview Our mission is to create a fossil fuel free future for power generation by replacing fossil fuels with geothermal energy. Fossil fuels such as oil, coal and gas damage the planet, environment and are limited. We will run out of fossil fuels one day. Geothermal energy have consistent and sufficient capacities to replace fossil fuels. Geothermal energy is renewable and create no carbon emissions. We have an obligation to our future generations to leave them a habitable Earth. Short Summary I've been in the construction industry as a design engineer for the past 14 years and have been part of large-scale infrastructure projects which help to create sustainable living in cities. I have always been interested in improving lives and protecting our planet. I always felt renewable energy is the future but never found a suitable source to make a substantial positive impact to climate change. When I discovered and learnt about Geothermal Energy and its currently untapped potential, I knew this is the energy source that will be a game changer. Therefore, I started UNCHARTED POWER PTE LTD to further Geothermal Development. What We Need & What You Get We are working towards building Geothermal Power Plants to achieve a Fossil Fuel Free Future in Asia. Our first project will be in Myanmar where we have the Myanmar Government's support and we have submitted our proposals for approval. We are seeking support to fund us in this interim period. We are seeking SGD$200,000 which will be for carrying out Stage 1 Pre-Feasibility tests and studies to select area within the potential site for the next stage detailed testing. Money from your support will go towards: To obtain and testing of water and ground samples from the area Carrying out chemical analysis of the samples Ground modeling to identify the site and planning for further detailed tests The Impact Today, more than 55% of the global energy sources are still fossil fuels which are harmful to our environment and are limited. We need to find ways to replace fossil fuels. At UNCHARTED POWER PTE LTD, we believe Geothermal Energy have the sufficient and consistent capacity to replace fossil fuels. We are working to further Geothermal Development to realize a Fossil Fuel Free Future. Your contributions will allow us to take the first concrete steps towards a Geothermal Power Plant in Myanmar to provide much needed electricity. We will use this as our pilot project for more future Geothermal Power Plants in Asia. Risks & Challenges Presently Geothermal Energy Exploration is not the most accurate which results in high risk and capital cost when selecting the plant sites. Geothermal Energy Exploitation can also be better understood to improve efficiency and safety during the operational phase. At UNCHARTED POWER PTE LTD, we seek to collaborate with industry and academic experts to research and improve methods for Geothermal Exploration and Exploitation. We have already in-principle agreements with scientists for collaboration and we intend to use our proposed pilot project in Myanmar as the research site.
Donate NowShort SummaryMMCC (Mobile Mini Circus for Children) has been contributing enormously to children of Afghanistan by its cultural and educational activities, and by bringing joy and laughter to millions of children since 2002. The number of MMCC's live audience members has exceeded 3 million in 28 provinces of Afghanistan, while the program also has a strong impact on the lives of many through its different educational activities.MMCC organizes a National Circus Festival and Juggling Championship in early August. This is the best opportunity to identify the greatest Afghan artists and form a perfect performance team. Those selected will remain in Kabul for one month of intensive training. This team of about 16 artists will be trained by local and international trainers to make a unique show to be performed around the country of Afghanistan in Kabul, Herat, Mazar-e-Sharif, and Jalalabad for thousands of children. We are asking for your support to create The Greatest Circus Show for Children of Afghanistan. The show will bring joy and laughter to over 10000 children who have experienced enough of war, and it will be an inspiration to the whole country for making Afghanistan a happier place for children. What We Need & What You Getwe need 5600 USD to cover the main expenses as follow:Transport2200 $Food & Refreshment1900 $Accommodation700 $Additional props & costumes800 $Total5600 $MMCC will cover all the additional expenses of this National Circus Tour. The funds are managed, and spent by MMCC in Afghanistan. Any exceeding founds will be spent on further improvement of this tour and expansion of it to reach larger number of children. If we don't reach the goal of this campaign all the founds will still be spent in Afghanistan for similar children's educational entertainment activities.we have a range of presents for contributors, such as HD photos and videos of the performances and tour, plus regular photo report. The ImpactEntertainment is good everywhere but in Afghanistan a Children's Circus Show is much more than just entertainment, it is a collective therapy and a window from the war to a beautiful dream world that makes people rethink and review their lives, values, and attitudes with and for children.Although over 10000 children in 4 provinces enjoy the show, many more especially by the invited national and international media will be informed and by local and national TV coverage, and will enjoy the shows too. We have 12 years of experience with Educational Entertainments, and usually our sponsors prefer to support Education and not Entertainment! What is wrong with just having a chance of experiencing a deep laughter and a fantastic show in a war turned country, suffering lack of fun.Risks & ChallengesSecurity, conservatism, political instability and much more are among the risks and challenges we face with nearly all what we do and every day. However none of these are new to us, since we have been running our activities in Afghanistan since 2002. Relying on our 12 years of experience and with our local networks and local support, as well as the insight to the culture and respect to all local values we will hopefully make this a historical success. Other Ways You Can HelpSpread the word! Make some noise! Let people know that children of Afghanistan need some fun too and we are going to make the Greatest Circus Show in Afghanistan! If you don't have the money to donate, but would still like to support us, share this site with friends on FaceBook, Twitter, write on your blogs, write e-mails out to friends and family to let them know!
Donate NowOverview Nepal’s First Elephant Refuge for rescued and retired Elephants is ready to happen with your help and we have great incentives for you when you make the decision to be part of history! The tourism in Nepal is evolving. elephant rides are phasing out and the animals and local people are in desperate need of food, care, fencing, land and jobs. Please join us as we embark on this amazing journey. You'll be rewarded with trips to our refuge to see how you contributed first hand! Project Summary We are ready to build the first refuge; our elephants are waiting, we have the property and we have a great team. Now we need you to help us make the first place in Nepal that elephants will run free during the day and rest in their corrals at night; swim in the river, be with their babies and learn to be elephants again. About Us This year Direct Aid built the first chain free corrals for private elephants in Sauraha Chitwan Nepal. Chain free corrals allow captive elephants to be free from their bondage of chains while they are home and not working. We also retired our first elephants from working conditions. A baby bull elephant, Samrat Gaj and in conjunction with Association Moey, 60 year old Lucky Kali. Lucky Kali had spent her life in the logging industry and then in the tourist industry. Now we are ready to expand our operation to retire several more elephants. We have 3 elephants who are partially retired but we need your support to transition them to full retirement. When we retire elephants we also revitalize their caregivers (Mahouts). We give them honor and respect in a difficult profession. When we care for the caretakers with kindness they treat the elephants with kindness. We have a perfect location with a beautiful river running through it. Water is a precious resource here which will now be protected by the foundation to be used by the elephants, the local children, and fishermen in permanent trust. Our goals are multifaceted. Legally acquire our current elephants living at Sapana which is a complex task but we have commitments already in place. Legally obtain our land and have it placed in perpetual trust, and our team stands waiting! Donna Marshall Founder of Direct Aid Nepal has just finished building corrals for the elephants of Sapana which will serve as the first refuge site for the elephants who reside here. We have built toys in the corrals, created a watering system for the elephants, new showers for the caretakers of the elephants, painted rooms, the buildings and a general clean up of the property that the elephants will call home until we finish the new refuge. Ms. Marshall has been an advocate of elephants in the United States and in Nepal. This year Direct Aid Nepal provided the support to retire the first residents of the refuge, the foundation also sponsored the first foot care program at Sapana by Carol Buckley. Direct Aid Nepal will be the umbrella organization for this initial startup. Located in the United States it is fully registered Non-Profit 501 3 c. Dhruba Giri the owner of Sapana Lodge is a forward-thinking Nepalese man with humble beginnings who has come full circle from being an elephant owner for profit to a man with a vision where he sees the overall benefit from retiring elephants from the tourist industry. He is donating over 10 acres of his property needed for the refuge; he is the face of change in Nepal. He works tirelessly to promote education, mobile health clinics, a city-wide recycling project and now an elephant refuge. With the generous land donation we will only need to purchase the remaining property in the area to ensure the land is only to be used for the refuge. Lena Quenard founder of Assocation Moey has been working with elephants for many years in Thailand and in Nepal; she has trained with Carol Buckley in foot care and welfare care. She was the driving force behind the rescue of Lucky Kali one of our residents at Sapana. Lucky Kali a 60+ old elephant is the first retired private elephant in Nepal. It has been a journey for Lucky, Mrs. Quenard and her mahouts. Mrs. Quenard has agreed to be our first Elephant Welfare Manager at our Refuge. She is also an amazing photographer, capturing many images that helped us with our video. What We Need It will cost us $400,000 to legally secure the elephants and pay for their care in full, hiring our staff and upgrading all current elephant systems in place for the first year and to prepare the property for elephants. It will cost us $700,000 to obtain the full property we require and to build a corral system that will be strong enough to withstand wild elephants and rhinos from entering the premises. Baby bulls will require strong corrals and we will have them. Next year we will plant 500 trees to give the property flavor for the elephants; providing necessary shade and food. The Impact We will hire Local! Nepal’s youth suffers from unemployment; we need 15 to 20 people year one to come on board with us. By year 3 we should be hiring 50 people. As we grow the tourist industry in the area which has collapsed will start to recover. Our jobs will have a just wage; health insurance and above all respect and dignity. We will provide two scholarships each year to local youths who wish to pursue a career in Animal Care at our local college. We will save the precious water here. We will have a river warden to test and analyze the water of the river not only in our area but the entire river; monitoring usage and helping to change any behavior that is harmful to the water source. We will become the center of training for mahouts; elephant caregivers in Nepal. Here we will teach humane training. We will continue to have foot care clinics. More elephants; we will continue to evaluate the 108 private elephants in Nepal and our board will determine at least once per year which elephants should be retired from the community and then we will negotiate their retirement with the private owner with the stipulation that the elephant cannot be replaced. We already have a list of 6 elephants that desperately need our help. Desperate is not an exaggerated word here. The Perks and Rewards We have several vacation packages suited for all levels! We hope you find one that works for you! Please contact us with any questions, we are able to make adjustments if needed. Donate NowWhat makes the 10 Ton Project so Unique and innovative? IT IS A SCALABLE, LOCALIZED SOLUTION TO OUR GLOBAL PLASTIC CRISIS. Our solution does not require any changes to the current recycling infrastructure, in fact, it will make the process more simple which will save a substantial amount of time and resources and make plastic collection much easier. With our solution, plastic does not have to be separated by type. A major bottleneck in the recycling process is to separate plastics by their recycling groups, such as #1 PET bottles and #2 HDPE bottles. All plastics have different melting temperatures for repurposing, so classification is very important. The current methods for repurposing plastic into new forms like bricks and blocks require expensive equipment and use a lot of energy. By utilizing earth bag design and building principles, we are able to use the plastic once it has been ground into pellets. This means all of the plastics can be mixed and cut up together, eliminating the most laborious part of collection. The shredding equipment required for recycling plastic is in every country on earth. Our chosen method of building also does not require any heavy equipment, can be built by unskilled labor, and scaled back versions can be built for much cheaper. EVERY DONOR WILL RECEIVE THE COMPREHENSIVE INSTRUCTIONAL VIDEO ON HOW TO BUILD A PLASTIC HOUSE. This project will immediately alleviate plastic pollution problems wherever it is implemented. And let's be honest, our entire Earth is covered in plastic garbage. So if you want to get involved, please reach out to us. "When the solution is simple, GOD is answering." -Albert Einstein ABOUT ME My name is Brian Sherwin and I am from the USA. I currently reside in Panama. I have been very fortunate to travel to 26 countries; I have volunteered in Peru, Vietnam, Thailand, Panama, and the United States with orphanages, hospitals, and animal protection groups. I'm an ocean and nature lover. I am an avid free diver and bodysurfer. And in my travels I have noticed everywhere on earth has one thing in common: they're covered in plastic trash. My diving excursions turned into plastic clean up sessions. It made me happy to help, but depressed at the state of our planet. Seeing the true state of our planet left me feeling lost, I wanted to do something, but I didn't know where to start. And finally I just let it all go and asked myself, what can I do to make a difference in this world? So I spent years learning, researching, and figuring out how i could help. I wanted to make the biggest impact I could because the volume of plastic pollution is of epic proportions. And that's why I'm launching THE TEN TON PROJECT, to help clean up the mess we are making and bring purpose into my life. I hope you join me on this journey! MY EXPERIENCE I have seven years of experience in construction/excavation and a University certification in Construction Project Management. I have spent years studying alternative home building methods, permaculture, biophilic design, and other disciplines to refine my building technique. MY GOAL FOR THE 10 TON PROJECT If we can find the same level of success as 4 Ocean, we can prevent 40 million pounds of plastic from entering our ecosystems and build 2000 homes!!!! So why stop there, the sky is the limit!
Donate Now“Nothing that we use for 5 minutes should pollute our oceans for 500 years” We designed Tasini as marine animals to promote awareness of the ecosystems we want to protect. Attached to a keychain and with a foldable bag inside, it will be easy and fun to break the plastic bag habit. With your funding we will launch a big environmental awareness campaign. You enable us to produce Tasini from recycled plastic waste and ensure a great impact by making Tasini affordable to as many as possible. We developed Tasini inspired by our different backgrounds. Roger studying ways to reduce plastic bag use in a PhD research project; Pari holding a degree in Biology and researching Indonesian society as a cultural anthropologist; Adith consulting government and businesses on cleaner production; and Lia designing fun and creative products. With a focus on Indonesia - the world’s second largest source of marine plastic pollution - we can make a real difference. But we believe that changing behavior around the world works best when it’s easy and fun. This has been our inspiration to create Tasini. 1. Launch a big environmental awareness campaign in Indonesia: The likeable Tasini marine animals are the right environmental ambassadors to raise awareness about plastic bag pollution. With your funding we can create a big media campaign raising environmental awareness in Indonesia. 2. Produce Tasini Bags from recycled plastic waste (PET): Fabrics from recycled PET are not yet common in Indonesia. To produce the fabrics, large quantities need to be ordered. With your funding we will be able to fill the minimum order quantity and start using recycled plastic waste for our Tasini bags. 3. Making Tasini affordable to everyone: The more people we reach, the greater our impact to reduce plastic bag use. This is why we want to keep the price for Tasini as low as possible. With your funding, we can reduce costs for production while securing ethical and sustainable standards.
Donate NowMy name is Cera. I grew up in rural Kenya, then moved to a ghetto in Nairobi. After I got the extraordinary chance to get my degree at UCLA, I knew I would return home to make my education mean something for as many people as possible. With your contribution and support, I'm doing my part to end generational poverty by providing dignified work to people who have been left behind by the global economy - all while making products that are good for the environment! Last year, after graduating, I made a powerful choice to move to back to Kenya to tackle what I care most about: Providing opportunities for women, the poor, and marginalized minorities to make sure that children don’t grow up in poverty. The seed of this mission was planted at the age of 9 when a civil war destroyed my family home, farm, and everything we owned. With nothing left, we moved to a ghetto in Nairobi, where I got to experience absolute poverty first-hand. Now, years later, I have the education and expertise to make a difference. I need the funds... and that's where you come in. HOW WE WILL MAKE THIS VISION A REALITY ECODUNIA is a social enterprise that works with local producers in Kenya to make products that are not only environmentally sustainable, but are useful and unique. We are creating opportunities and empowering women, the poor, and marginalized minorities. We are building a brand that has the capacity to provide work to over 500 jobs in Kenya in the next two years. We are committed to providing dignified work opportunities that will help workers pull themselves out of poverty. WHAT IS A SOCIAL ENTERPRISE A social enterprise is a for-profit business that prioritizes people, communities and the environment before profit. And profits are reinvested into the business and into the communes they serve. They often don't appeal to traditional investors, as the profit margins are generally low. However, once up and running, these businesses self-sustain and benefit everyone.
Donate NowProject Amal ou Salam, meaning Project Hope and Peace in Arabic, is a non-political, grassroots, organization that works with Syrian refugee children in Jordan, Lebanon, and Turkey, as well as children in Syria to empower the future leaders of Syria through education, intervention, and trauma-based care. We developed an innovative educational approach that seeks to empower the future leaders of Syria. The core tenets of the approach include working to ensure that every child has the right to an education, a childhood free from trauma and violence, and the hope of a peaceful tomorrow. Project Amal ou Salam has a successful track record of delivering this approach in week-long workshops in Jordan, Lebanon, and Turkey with volunteers from around the world, in the school that it funds in Jordan and in its community and educational partnerships around the region. Our Origins While visiting an IDP camp in Syria in 2013, Co-Founders Nousha Kabawat and Aziz Abu Sarah were struck by the bored children mirroring the anger, violence and sectarianism around them and began to imagine a grassroots effort to feed the children’s self-esteem and character. With a background in conflict resolution and peacebuilding in post-war societies, Nousha worked to turn her dream of a multicultural, interfaith community into a reality called Project Amal ou Salam. Free from politics and sectarian dogma, Project Amal ou Salam operates across Turkey, Jordan, Lebanon and Syria – few NGOs for Syrian refugee children founded in the past few years are working across borders. According to the UNHCR, to date there more than 5 million registered and unregistered Syrian refugees living in neighboring countries, of which more than half are under the age of 17. Since the revolution began in 2011, these children have been forced from their homes and country and have been unable to access basic needs or education.
