When we get near a certain level or when we can find third party funding, we unlock a stretch goal. P is also investing development money to bring the magic back Read our story ⇣ Save College of Wizardry College of Wizardry has hosted thousands of players fromall over the World. A home away from home to wand-erers and dreamers,a place to make lifelong friends, and together bring to life a realityof wonder and mystery. Now that magical and diversecommunity needs help to continue. What our situation? Earlier this year all future events were cancelled, as the former organisers halted operations and let staff go. Despite being sold out, and despite all efforts to continue, they were overextended on too many productions, with insufficient funds to run these larps and other events, and no money for immediate refunds. College of Wizardry has been a labour of love and this is truly heartbreaking for so many. What are we trying to do? The plan is pretty straight forward. The company P is making a down payment on the castle and risking the investment to produce the events. If we can raise the minimum funds for the events this Spring, we will open the doors again for anyone to go to magic school. We are determined to Save College of Wizardry and hope the magic will prevail! Who are behind this? With the help of some remarkably dedicated and passionate fans and creatives, the International Emmy Award Winning immersive storytelling studio The company P has taken on College of Wizardry to save this magical community. See special thanks and a presentation of the group and the bottom of this page. This page is put together under extreme pressure for all involved creatives, so please let us know if anything is unclear or not right. Why will we succeed? We are doing this together with the artists and players who have made College of Wizardry in to what it is over the years. P is a well-established production company with its day-to-day business from making television series and massively immersive events and campaigns. It's an incorporated business with a proven production pipeline and international partnerships. Nearly all of its creatives over the years also have one foot firmly in larping. We are setting aside a minimum of 100 000€ in the first phase to ensure College of Wizardry prevails, including a 20 000€ down payment on Czocha castle so that it's reserved for the April events, and an additional 20 000€ for event costs in arrear for the German language event "Nibelungen", hosted earlier this year. This is done ahead of this campaign and funded separately. And we are giving free ticket vouchers to the several hundred current ticket-holders that are left stranded. We are serious about Saving College of Wizardry. But we need your help to get started! See more about P and our work at the end of this page. We act fast or the magic school may be closed for years, or may never be able to open again! Our aim is to get as near to our funding goal as possible. And the better we do, the sooner tickets will be available again for anyone to go to future events. P collaborates with USC Games and Avalon Larp Studio to explore playable source material. Amazing pictures from College of Wizardry at bottom of this page!More images also on Instagram ⇣ 1.How to save the magic school Magic starts with people! Why are we doing this? "We love this world and the people in it!" We love College of Wizardry. There is probably no other experience that has introduced so many people world-wide to larping (from contemporary magic fiction and Harry Potter buffs, to passionate larpers). It has employed and trained amateur organisers, volunteers, professionals and hobby crafters and artists. And while the venture grew too big for the earlier organisers, the larp itself is strong, quirky and amazing. It is probably the most vibrant contemporary magic larp and story universe out there. "It has changed my life in ways I never expected, giving me an international family of fantastic people, and has even become part of what I do for a living." – Liselle Awwal For all non-magic graduates out there College of Wizardry is a magical story universe, where the participants populate the world in real, live events. At its core, a beloved live action role-playing series (so called "larps", think cosplay with make-believe) about a magic school that has run 20 main events so far at Czocha castle in Poland. We make costumes, wands and mystical artefacts, write stories and create characters–and generally behave as if we can do magic. Of course it's all really an excuse to be humans together (or non-humans)! If we don't, there may be no coming back "It is vital to continue now" Without this fundraiser, College of Wizardry may be unable to rebuild, or may need years to open the doors again. But if we can run the cancelled events in Spring, we ensure there is a future and can make tickets available for more players to experience the magic. So by helping these stranded people, we help reopen College of Wizardry for everyone! Aside from being unfair to the players, an extended break also threatens the availability of the fantastic castle location in the future. And a pause will seriously impact the event production side (as the props and production pipeline would have to be partly rebuilt from scratch). As it stands now, College of Wizardry has both gear and crew ready to go. We are going to rehire all these talented people and make the events happen. About our perks All items are created and donated at no cost by professional artists, writers and crafters from the community. Aside from hard costs (printing and manufacturing, postal service, and Indiegogo and other fees), the entire contribution goes to preserve College of Wizardry. The prize for some items is much lower than comparative retail cost. For some it is higher, as this is a charitable fundraiser. We are also going to offer ticket vouchers, these are at latest price level, with a little added to pay for Indiegogo and banking fees and for this fundraiser. By getting that perk you support Save College of Wizardry and get at reserved and paid spot! We sincerely hope you like our perks and support what we do. Examples of perks that show You helped Save College of Wizardry! Signed Magical Certificate(A signed personal certificate showing you helped save College of Wizardry) Medal of Magic Saviour(In-story medal for heroic magic, a true friend of magical schools) What if we can't raise all the money? If we fail to raise all the funds, things will take longer, maybe years, but College of Wizardry will reopen its doors! With Indiegogo flexible funding, every contribution will be invested in full, earmarked specifically to rebuild College of Wizardry and run events in the future. All contributions help preserve College of Wizardry over time, and the more we get the faster we get there. The immediate needs What does the College of Wizardry need right now to survive? To run the upcoming events, to reaffirm the relationship with the community and with Czocha castle. Before this happens, no major investor will back the IP, and it would be hard to say if the players would come back. But if we reopen the doors now, we are confident we can keep them open. "Unfortunately it's not like we can just go to some goblin bank–those don't really exist in this world." Regardless of the outcome of this fundraiser, P is giving free ticket vouchers for future events to all current ticket-holders, but better yet would be to run the events as originally intended. To enable this crowdfunding campaign, P makes a down payment to Czocha castle of twenty thousand Euro, which means the incredible location is booked and reserved for College of Wizardry to happen on the original dates! How will your contributions be invested? The goal is to immediately reopen College of Wizardry for witches and wizards. To preserve it so it can stand on its own legs again. One of the most important uses of the contributions is to be able to rehire Lead Producer Robin Steen, Iryt and the crew and freelancers for the 2019 events. The entire team is ready to go, with full support from P. After making good towards the crew, we would also like to commission some amazing talent and experts to support them. In a nutshell, by running these events we ensure College of Wizardry is in good shape moving forward. We can reopen ticket sales and from there it's a matter of bringing more magic to more people, better, sooner and more fantastic! All in all about half of the funding needs this year are the Indiegogo campaign for the April events and related costs. The other half is development investments by The company P to preserve College of Wizardry, funded outside this crowdfunding campaign. As a reference, a high-level budget for the 2019 April events and costs for the first phase of reconstructing College of Wizardry is estimated to include Indiegogo and bank fees, conversion costs et cetera ca 10 000€, Location, set & props etc, castle rent, food, consumables ca 65 000€, Documentation, character photographs and other services ca 10 000€, Busses, transportation, other ca 15 000€. Briefly about the assignment of rights and ownership The company P has acquired College of Wizardry in its entirety from the former owners (including without limitation Nibelungen and other special editions and events). Because of the complex international nature, some details to be defined in good faith, with respect to all involved over the years. The purchase involves a royalty to DLS and to Liveform as an independent non-profit organisation to distribute to creatives with any surplus to support Polish larping. In addition a future buyout cost at fair market value, also split between DLS and Liveform. P is not affiliated with the former organisers; any partnership and/or liability is expressly disclaimed. All rights reserved. None of the funds raised go to DLS, founder Claus Raasted or its owners. All funds earmarked outside P's day-to-day business, to rebuild College of Wizardry and run the cancelled events, if possible on the dates originally intended. To make sure credits and mentioning of the people involved over the years is done correctly, Liveform to maintain a Credits List and the distribution of any royalty to originators. We are working very hard to make sure this is handled right, and with respect for the international teams of volunteers and work for hire at former organisers and collaborators. We are continuing in good faith to collect names and people's involvement. If you have contributed as volunteer, staff or otherwise In the short term, P is giving free ticket vouchers to several hundred old ticket-holders (equivalent value of ca 500€/voucher) and offers our work for free for 2019. In addition, to make this crowdfunding campaign possible, P makes a non-refundable down payment for the castle of 20K€. P has in addition made a payment in arrear on location services of 15K€, as well as a 20K€ payment for castle services for recent College of Wizardry German language event Nibelungen. Our long-term goal would be to find investors and if possible set up a dedicated College of Wizardry corporation in such a way that the community can help run and own a part of it. We are preparing to set up creative commons/licensing to protect all fan creators and small businesses, to enable art, crafting, spinn offs and such to continue and grow.We like to mention Philipp Jacobius, who has worked tirelessly to traverse all administrative hurdles, and Claus Raasted, who in the face of great adversity has shown incredible dedication to find a home for College of Wizardry. While we respect the differing views on how things may have reached such an unsustainable situation, it is clear to us that everyone is working very hard to solve it.Donate Now

The product has been a major success as we managed to hit the total funding of $338,000 on both Indiegogo & Kickstarter. However, after receiving numerous requests to also make one for children, we made a smaller, lighter backpack with a whole bundle of cool perks relevant for kids. That’s how we ended up with Pix Mini. Help Us Social Network Links We know that not everyone will be able to afford Pix Mini. THANK YOU for coming to Smart Me's Indiegogo page! Please choose a reward perk on the right to enable Smart Me Educational Products to take its products to production and have them ready for Summer Learning 2020! About Smart Me Educational Products... Smart Me™ originated by inspiration after the birth of my youngest daughter, who was born with Down syndrome. Putting my law career on hold to be available for her (and my other children) full-time, the educator in me surfaced and the desire to provide her with focused educational tools for early learning inspired the creation of the original Smart Me™ educational workbooks and DVDs – Colors and Shapes, Letters and Sounds, and Ready to Read!. These Pre-K and Kindergarten level workbooks and DVDs were designed to provide her with focused visual and auditory learning as well as memory and fine motor development. They worked! At age three, my daughter could identify every primary color and basic shape, and could identify and sound out almost all letters of the alphabet. By age four, she knew all letters and their sounds. Her Exceptional Early Learning Program (EELP) teachers were astonished at her level of ability. Realizing that Smart Me™ was a gift, not just to my daughter, but to ALL children, Smart Me™ Educational Products began reaching children in daycare settings, through sales to parents, grandparents, and even teachers, at flea markets, and through word-of-mouth. I have heard and continue to hear great reports that Smart Me™ preschool products was/is instrumental in successfully preparing children for kindergarten. And, Smart Me™ kindergarten products are of the BEST available in reinforcing skills taught in kindergarten in preparation for first grade. In 2011, Smart Me™ Educational Products expanded its product line of Math and Reading/Language Arts workbooks from preschool up to 5th grade. Smart Me™ was excited to make a difference in learning for children in pre-k through 5th grade by helping them build and master strong foundational skills in earlier grades for success in middle grades and beyond. Smart Me™ Educational Products continued to provide its great educational resources to parents for their children through word-of-mouth, afterschool tutoring (Joint Base Andrews, MD), and sales at military Exchange store kiosks. Smart Me™ Educational Products believes in its products and in its mission, which is… “To make a difference in education by helping children build strong, foundational early learning skills in math and reading.” With extra practice at home, children are more likely to gain improved understanding of skills and improved grades… Encouraging continued learning in math and reading, especially over the summer, is critical to a child’s mastery of current and future concepts and skills. Overview The calmversation learning foundation is a not for profit on a mission to increase joy, creativity, and compassion while reducing stress, miscommunication, and barriers to understanding. We have designed an online curriculum to foster inspired, innovative and compassionate classrooms. Join us in redefining education in the most thought-provoking way! We'd love your help in getting this program into classrooms all across the globe. Hello and welcome, Our story begins with you. Do you remember what it was like being a kid? Do you remember feeling confused 'why' you had to learn certain things in school? Do you remember feeling perplexed at how to express your thoughts and ideas? Well, we know YOU learned to read and that YOU are here tells us that you care about a child's experience of school. We do too. And we are really excited to make our program available for more children/youth every where. We all know school can be a magical place for some and a quietly miserable place for others. Have you ever stopped to consider what causes kids to tune in or tune out? We've spent a lot of time reflecting on all these questions and more. Navigating the invisible paths toward powerful learning, communication and effective problem solving is why we exist! We are introducing a new model for learning that elevates understanding, creativity and maximizes learning potential. Our product is available online and makes it much easier for educators to engage in new ways with their students while putting the students in the driver's seat of learning and discovery. What’s been missing in the education system? Answer: calmversation™ a whole new model for learning that sets the foundation for how children learn to relate to themselves, each other and the world around them. It’s a bridge that leverages technology to facilitate compassion, creativity and a celebrates our collective humanity. We have designed this program to help each student connect to the power of their own imagination, learning potential and capacity to solve problems. We are making the 'invisible' visible! Our program develops the social-emotional and intellectual development of students while giving them the tools to express how they think, learn and create. A note from our founder: I have a lot of empathy for both students and educators. I have been both. After 14 years as an educator and avid observer of student learning within the Vancouver school district, I had a strong desire to do something about the gaps I saw. I was determined to make a dynamic difference in education and it started with the questions that never left my heart... How can we maximize the learning opportunities and minimize the stress, worries and self-doubts? How can we empower children to step into their greatness sooner in life? How can we work with educators to provide a framework in which students can learn how to effectively solve problems, be more creative and with compassion? How can we build a stronger bridge for humanity in the rise of technology? Taking these questions in mind, I reverse engineered a whole new model for learning. Three years ago, I left the public education system to create calmversation™ - I designed an interactive online curriculum that could attend to the gaps in a child's experience of school. The goal was to champion each child through an inspiring and creative lens of compassion while providing educators with the tools and resources to make their profession even more rewarding. How does calmversation™ work? Our school program is available online, facilitated by the classroom teacher and takes a "humans helping humans" learn, lead and inspire. This is accomplished through five key themes which are the building blocks of calmversation™. Within each theme, we offer a related concept video, discussion starters, a range of fun activities, project ideas and "Space for Thought" lounges. The program serves to help students deepen their understanding of self, others and the world around them. Each theme builds upon the other to help students and educators unlock new possibilities. 1) Ideas and Inspiration - understanding the nature of ideas and inspiration while developing a positive relationship with their cognitive abilities. In this theme, students and educators learn the important sequence that creates calmversation™. 2) Communication - the key to understanding others In this theme, we create a deeper understanding about how communication occurs verbally and non-verbally through creative expressions and in the digital sphere of technology, such as social media and the Internet. 3) Emotions - the driving force behind our actions We provide fun opportunities for students to discover the interesting world of emotions and mixed emotions so they can better navigate social situations and interactions. 4) Learning - a lifelong process Students will be able to see learning as a transparent process from different sources. This has a positive impact on their ability to process new information. They will also be able to communicate how they learn. 5) Problem Solving - an essential life skill Whether the problem is personal, community-based or global, calmversation™ teaches peaceful problem-solving methods that lead to win-wins. Our curriculum is designed to break through the barriers to learning while meeting the students wherever there are at. The program is meant to be delivered with the whole class and sometimes the students work in groups or pairs based on the specific activity. We make it easier for students to understand the point, purpose, and goals for learning while building on their natural capacity to be creative and compassionate human beings. Through calmversation™ students become a part of the dialogue that shapes their experience of school and learning in a positive way. What leaders, innovators, and educators have to say about our program: Here's where you 'calm' in... As a non-profit run by volunteers, we request your support to make the calmversation™ curriculum available to more students, educators and schools across the nations. This chart shows how the funds will be used. If you feel inspired or compelled to contribute to this campaign, you will be helping us cause more calmversation™ in schools and communities. Imagine the impact of 'mutually respectful dialogues' with students who are equipped with the tools and resources to solve problems peacefully and creatively... Your contribution will impact the experience of hundreds, if not thousands, of students. With your support we will be able to expand our team of facilitators and trainers. Our goal is to raise 50k and these funds will be allocated to expedite our efforts locally, nationally and globally. We are here to create a stunning difference in education. You can count on us to provide updates as we reach each new milestone in this journey. We invite you to cause and create with us! If you are interested in joining our team or sponsoring our learning foundation please contact us directly [email protected] Behind the scenes With a small team of dedicated volunteers and community supporters, we have been able to achieve the following: Beta testing completed with 10 teachers and 450 students which means we are now ready to start implementing the program Our Wishes and Wisdoms Curriculum has been launched with fantastic results. A Board of Advisors has been created and our team has been working around the clock to bring in the funding needed to keep our not-for-profit alive. We are so close to reaching our full potential and with your help, we can get across the finish line! Other Ways You Can Help If you aren't able to contribute financially we still want you to be a part of our community. You can help by: Sharing our campaign with everyone you know! Talking to your local schools, parents & educators Joining us on Facebook and Instagram In the coming days we’ll share more about our stretch goals and you’ll get to meet the team! Overview Mental illnesses are medical conditions that affect the way a person thinks, feels and relates to others. How you communicate can alter wiring in the brain and promote mental wellness. Imagine knowing the perfect thing to say when someone you know is struggling with symptoms or having a mental health crisis. Expert after expert suggests general guidelines for interacting with someone suffering from mental illness. “Express concern, offer support, reassure them that help is available, for example. What they don’t do is get specific about what that sounds like—exactly what to say when trying to do those things. Knowing just the right thing to say when someone’s perceptions are flawed and their behavior has slipped out of control can guide a person through their crisis. What if you could prevent a hospitalization? Wouldn’t it be amazing if you were able to divert the impulses of manic depression? “I wish you’d tell me” is filled with word for word examples of what to say and how to facilitate positive change. This new addition is a complete rewrite with more scripts and added insights. WHY THIS BOOK IS SO IMPORTANT Mental health issues are more common than cancer, heart disease, and lung disease combined. According to the National Institute of Mental Health, approximately 1 in 5 American adults experience mental illness in a given year. Suicide is the tenth leading cause of death in this country and the third leading cause of death for 15 to 24-year-olds. Over ninety percent of them have a diagnosable mental disorder, and there are an estimated eleven attempts for every suicide death. Twenty-two veteran and active service members commit suicide each day. Of the 20 million adults in this country who experienced a substance use disorder, 50% had a co-occurring mental illness. The number of violent crimes in this country associated with mental illness is tiny. Mass shootings, however, have a much higher percentage; and they not only take innocent lives, but they also impact everyone connected with the tragedy and people in the general population who change their lives out of fear. Moreover, these incidents can create mental illness such as PTSD, depression, anxiety, and panic disorders. Of greater importance, though, is that the number of people affected by mental illness is 100%. Aside from the staggering number of people who will experience mental illness, one in five Americans have family members, neighbors, and co-workers. Mental illness costs this country $193 billion in lost earnings which impacts our economy — the cost of healthcare rises. This book can improve how mental illness touches people’s lives; and by extension, how mental illness impacts our NATION. HOW IT ALL BEGAN A few years ago, while battling suicidal depression, two people who loved me dearly, asked the same simple question, “What can I say that will help?” It happens to be the most frequently asked question by family members. In response, I began writing short scripts so friends and loved ones would know just the right thing to say when I was suffering. Those scripts and others based on my broader experience living with mental illness—first as a daughter, then my symptoms and finally as a mother trying to minimize the distress of mental illness in my son’s life—was the basis for the original edition. I hope to help others avoid pain and begin healing in a world of misconceptions and stigmas. ABOUT THE AUTHOR Alysse Adularia is a writer and entrepreneur living in Northern California. She has been living with bipolar disorder since she was nine, following her father's first psychotic break which shattered her family forever. Subsequent traumas and unfortunate outcomes triggered long bouts of depression and periods of mania. Alysse now works with the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) as a facilitator, trainer, and teacher. She is able to manage her symptoms and enjoy wellness. TESTIMONIALS Here’s what people have said about the first edition: “Your book was just what I needed…I’ve blitzed through the whole thing and will go back and reread it again and again.” — Mary Rowe “I wish I had this book throughout my previous fourteen years of providing therapy... I strongly recommend this book for the layperson as well as the professional…This is an absolute must have tool.” — Laura Griffin, LMFT “I wanted you to know that your book saved our relationship…We cannot express our gratitude enough to you for writing this book. We are truly grateful.” — Laura Bunt “We have been reading your book…at our mental health center over the last month or so…we really liked it and had some good dialog over your suggested phrases for helping.” — Rev. Overview American College Preparatory Academy (ACPA) was intentionally designed to create a cost effective alternative to the traditional US prep school model for international students and is fully accredited by AdvanceED through its' curriculum partner Edmentum. By flipping the traditional model upside down we are able to reduce costs for international students by 80%. A part of every dollar earned is set aside for needy students around the world. Lend a hand, change the world! Her name is Da. She is 16 years old. She should be spiking volleyballs on the varsity team, studying Geometry or reciting lines for the school play. But Da won’t have that opportunity. She lives in Chiang Mai, Thailand and instead of heading to class...she has been forced into the dark world of abuse and sexual slavery….forced to succumb to the perversions of men who see her as nothing but a servant to their perverse needs. Meanwhile, in Ethiopia, Yonus can’t attend school. He has to help his family survive by bearing the load of a 5 gallon jug on his back just so he can collect dirty water for his family to cook with...and drink. The chore takes half a day. Da and Yonus are real kids. In fact, there are 264,000,000 students who did not go to school last year and who will not attend this year either… at least not without our help. Some of them are bound to the child labor system, others are victims of sex trafficking and many more are stuck in poverty, where half of their day is consumed just to find water. Why You Should Care Can you imagine the potential that could lay in students like Da and Yonus? Perhaps the solutions to cure cancer, reduce world hunger or find more economical energy sources are locked in their brains. The key to unlocking this potential? Education. By flipping the traditional model of education upside down and providing the opportunity to attend online, we are able to reduce costs for international students by 80%. And from the 20% they do pay? A part of every dollar earned is set aside for needy students around the world… just like Da and Yonus. How Is This Possible? American College Preparatory Academy (ACPA) was created to meet the needs of an underserved market segment; students who desire to attend an excellent United States high school to prepare for an American college experience.... but can’t afford both. By leveraging the newest innovations in communication and technology, and tapping into the Founder’s decades of experience in placing graduates at elite colleges and universities throughout the United States, ACPA is designed to offer a superior U.S. high school education at a fraction of the price of a traditional US boarding school. Instead of international students paying $50,000 per year to study in the U.S. for 10 months and then go home for 2, ACPA students will study in their home country for 10 months and travel to the U.S. for 2 months… all for less than $10,000. During those two months they will enhance their English language skills, practice for the SAT and ACT and visit colleges and major cities throughout the nation. We have partnered with one of the best curriculum providers in the US to connect excellent teachers and world-class course work to students to give our students the chance to realize their dream of attending college in America. Why Now? There are 4 elements necessary for an international student to succeed in a U.S. college or university: - Rigorous fully accredited high school coursework, - English language skills, - U.S. cultural awareness, - and individualized college guidance and placement. All of these elements must be anchored by the connection with a caring, relational teacher/mentor. Advancements in the tech sector have finally made the missing link of allowing for strong student-teacher relationships, even in an online education. With technology like Facetime, Zoom, Tango, Google hangout, ooVoo and Skype, students can have real-time, face to face connection with their teachers - teachers who connect, encourage, inspire and challenge their students everyday. Making It Happen The goal is to enroll the first class of ACPA in August of 2019. To do so, we need to reach the funding goal of $12,000 in order to build an online education that truly is designed to serve everyone...even those in the most dire of circumstances. We believe that the greatest untapped resource in the world is the human mind, but 80% of the kids in the world will never realize their full potential without an education. We have the ability to change that. A portion of every dollar received will go into a scholarship fund for needy students. As they step are provided the opportunity to step into their potential and passions… we all benefit as they help change the world. About The Founder Richard Miller has spent 40 years as a teacher and administrator helping American students develop their gifts, hidden potential and find their life callings. For the past 10 years, Mr. Miller has been working with a brick and mortar International Student Boarding program at the school where he has served for 20 years. Through this experience, he has visited schools in Africa, Thailand and China. His contacts in those countries are aiding to boost awareness the cause. This is how he met Da and Yonus. While visiting a town in Ethiopia where students had to win a literal lottery to attend “school”(a mudbrick building with no windows), he felt the call to make education accessible. This was solidified when he realized students who didn’t win a seat were walking for miles a day just to sit outside the school in hopes of hearing any scrap of knowledge through the walls. While visiting Da, he asked those who knew her if she would be allowed to study if a computer was provided. They said yes. As a father and grandfather, he wishes that all children could have the same educational opportunities as his own.He is now committing to put his decades of experience to work on behalf of students all around the world. His dream was to develop a school to make education more affordable for international students who can pay, while also using a portion of the profits to fund scholarships to provide education to those kids around the world who are just waiting outside the walls...and ACPA is the dream. Risks & Challenges At this point the biggest risk and challenge is enrolling enough students for a soft rollout, beginning with the new school year in September of 2019. In order to establish “proof of concept,” we will need to enroll between 10 and 20 students. This Indiegogo campaign was designed to fund a social media marketing blitz for the next 120 days. We know who our target audience is, we have curriculum and websites in place and teachers ready to go. Additionally, we have partnered with one of the most reliable online providers in the U.S. We are starting with the English speaking countries outside of the U.S. for the first 60 days and then will add additional countries as we progress. Your financial support over the next 90 days allows us to open ACPA and enroll our first class of students in August of 2019. Your dollars will help make a top quality education a reality for kids who may have previously been locked out by poverty or circumstance.Donate Now

What is it? The Foam Gnome system is a combination of an educational book and an interactive soap dispenser designed for preschool-aged children. The cute story and illustrations teach kids the basics of keeping clean and why it's important to get rid of germs that can make them (and their parents!) sick. The dispenser sings a song that helps them know how long to scrub and at the end the gnome giggles and glows at the great job they just did! This allows them to become independent with their hygiene and helps them feel a sense of accomplishment. They just love the gnomes! How does it work? The book: Children are introduced to The Foam Gnomes when they encounter a dirty troll who has come from his cave by the lake to play with them. The gnomes turn him away because he is sticky and dirty and they’re afraid he’ll get them sick. This makes the troll very upset so the gnomes decide to teach him how to take care of himself. They show him how, when, and why he needs to wash his hands. The troll takes their advice and cleans himself. He joins the Foam Gnomes’ party and they are friends for life! The troll is having a tough time staying clean! Maybe the Foam Gnomes can help him learn how to take better care of himself! They could teach the troll how to take care of himself! Like washing his hands before and after he eats. If he coughs or he sneezes, or gets sticky from treats! Here the gnomes teach the right way to get rid of germs! No more fingertip-only scrubbing! That's one clean troll! The dispenser: When the top is pressed, the soap comes out from the tip of the Foam Gnome‘s hat. The gnome sings a 20-second song to encourage proper scrubbing time and then asks the child to rinse their hands. Then he says, “Show me your hands!” and his cheeks light up with glee! Our 3 year old scrubber LOVES The Foam Gnome! Rinse and reward. "Show me your hands!" The Gnome’s face lights up with joy and with glee for a job well done! Why is hand washing so important? It is estimated that up to 80% of all infectious diseases are spread by dirty hands. These can include the common cold, the flu, strep throat, and even nasty stomach bugs. Let’s face it, whatever comes home with your child will often spread to one or more members of the household. This can result in missed days of school, work, and even lost wages that impact the entire family. Although most children do wash their hands, they don’t always do it the right way every time: They don't use soap, they don't scrub well or long enough, or they only wash their fingertips. This product aims to change these statistics by using an amusing and educational book to teach children how, when, and why it’s important to wash their hands and by using visual and audio cues in an interactive soap dispenser to engage their interest and offer a reward for a job well done. The Foam Gnome system will give them the confidence and independence to wash correctly every time. Who I am: I'm an infectious disease scientist and mother of two. I noticed that even though I had taught my kids how to properly wash their hands, they would still cut corners and not wash the right way when they weren’t being watched. This lead to them catching and spreading germs to each other and me! I started to think about what motivates children to do a good job and realized that coupling repetition with a sense of independence was a huge driving factor. The Foam Gnome system was born from my deep-rooted desire to help children stay healthy and to give parents a much needed break from constant monitoring. What we need, why we need it, and how you can help us: In order to get this product to you, we need your help. In its current state, the prototype is 3D printed and clipped around an off-the-shelf bottle. We’d like you to be able to use any type of foaming soap that you choose, so we need to create a refillable chamber of our own design inside the dispenser. We also need to make a few electrical changes like designing a custom printed circuit board and adding an integrated battery compartment. In order to do this, we need funding to help cover the cost of these changes. Once those changes are made, we’ll need to pay for tooling for parts that will allow us to use injection molding for factory production. This will speed up production and make a much nicer and more durable dispenser. Your support will also allow us to pay to create packaging for the system. This is a unique opportunity to help fund a product that will impact your health and the health of your loved ones. Please consider backing and sharing this project and together we can make the world a cleaner place! Risks and challenges: We are hopeful that everything will continue to run smoothly. Quotes are in place for all of the engineering and packaging design that we need and we have a manufacturer lined up to begin tooling and producing as soon as the redesign is complete. As with anything, these things take time. Although we do not expect any delays or issues, sometimes life happens. The funds are not immediately released once the campaign is over and typically take 2-3 weeks to become available for our use. Once the engineering begins, we’ll need to address any minor issues that develop during the redesign process for the soap chamber and electrical components. There may be a lead time from the manufacturer, too. We will be diligent in keeping you updated with all of our progress! Long-term goals: The Foam Gnome system can be a tremendous aid to child care centers who are seeking to obtain or maintain state accreditation for their facilities. Getting children excited about washing their hands can be critical to meeting and exceeding state criteria. Accreditation can let parents know that their child is attending a facility that goes the extra mile to keep their students safe and healthy. The Foam Gnome can also be implemented in pediatricians’ offices, urgent care facilities, and hospitals. There the book can remain in the lobby and the dispenser will stay in the restroom for use. This can help lower cross-contamination between sick patients and those who are there for check-ups or injuries. Eventually, we would like to develop a wall mounted unit for use in these facilities where counter top space may be limited. Additionally, we intend to offer a system in other languages to include Spanish and French.Donate Now

IT'S TIME TO SHARE THE LOVE... Sweetheart Bakery is a collection of heartwarming stories, recipes and toys that foster kindness and inspire creativity. Designed for children ages 4-8 (and the child at heart in all of us), we are finally ready to launch after many years in the making.Presenting... the Sweetheart Bakery Subscription Box! Just imagine a child’s excitement when a delightful new adventure, complete with recipes, activities, stickers and more, is home delivered each month. With seasonal surprises added throughout the year, there's loads to look forward to each month! THE STORY BEHIND THE STORY My name is Zoë Royer. I'm the CEO & Founder of Sweetheart Bakery Press. Over two decades ago, I created a cast of lovable characters in a series of stories for my daughters to enjoy. These characters named Charlotte and Shannon, are two little girls who take on problems and find solutions with the attitude that they can do anything they put their mind to. Of course, one of their favorite things to do is bake. Hence the name, Sweetheart Bakery! When my girls were little, baking was a favorite activity for us to do together. Now that they are grown, they enjoy making food for their own families. It is an important life skill. Done well, it is a beautiful convergence of attention to detail, creativity and... science. And the best part is that baking is meant for sharing. Today, it's important for children to have playtime options that are as desirable to them as screentime. It's equally important for girls to have mentors that inspire their confidence and ability to bring about good in the world. This aspiration guides each of the stories I've written, taking months to carefully edit and illustrate each one. In this era of digital connectivity, I believe Sweetheart Bakery provides something unique and important in the entertainment/education and DIY space that children, especially girls, will gravitate towards and be positively influenced by in a meaningful way.It has long been my dream to share these comic book adventures and the imaginary world of Blossomdale with other children. My offering is a community of caring that they can feel part of. The underlying theme of each story is friendship, making things from scratch, finding solutions and fostering meaningful connections. The virtues of kindness, generosity and resourcefulness speak to the heart and minds in each of us as we follow the adventures of two little girls named Charlotte and Shannon. It is my sincere hope that the stories and characters of Sweetheart Bakery will contribute to a kinder, gentler, more inclusive society where we inspire and empower one another. Why? Because the best things in life are shared. THE DIFFERENCE YOUR SUPPORT WILL MAKE Funds raised from this campaign will allow us to reach an important milestone, to publish the subscription box contents so that children can start learning and playing with it.
